Alpharoute Transports is an international forwarding business serving 16 core European markets from its UK headquarters. The company’s broad customer base spanned the food, recycling, steel and car manufacturing industries, among other sectors.
Having scaled up Alpharoute over a number of years, owners Johan and Marianne Gualchierotti felt the business would benefit from the networks and resources that a larger group could provide. They engaged Avondale to prepare the company for a potential sale and to help identify suitable acquirers.
Avondale worked closely with Alpharoute’s management team to draw out the key strategic value drivers of the business that could positively impact the final sale price. The company’s unique capacity to handle import and export shipments to any location in Europe was identified as a key value-add. Building on this analysis, the team strategically marketed the company to potential buyers through Avondale’s international network. These discussions returned firm offers from a range of prospective UK and international acquirers.
The chosen buyer, CCL Logistics, was a Scottish pallet distribution company. Avondale oversaw the negotiations, and was able to leverage the clear synergistic value of the deal to arrive at a high sale price for the vendors. With heads of terms agreed, the Gualchierottis emerged delighted, with their company in good hands and well placed for further growth.
