INDUSTRY
Wiltshire-based Lake Interconnection Systems Ltd. was a manufacturer and supplier of wiring harnesses and cable assemblies. A broad client base included the aerospace, military, motorsport, medical, marine, railway, communications, water, wind, solar, and battery markets.
The owners of Lake Interconnection were looking to divest the majority of their business to an investor that could better support its future growth, whilst retaining a stake in the company. Though profitable, the highly specialised nature of the firm’s operations made finding a suitable buyer a significant challenge.
Having been instructed by Lake Interconnection’s owners, Avondale conducted extensive market research and discreetly approached a select number of potential acquirers across its global networks. A firm offer was received from Phoenix Dynamics, a company with interests in the military vehicle, battlefield weapons and renewable energy markets, and for whom the acquisition of Lake Interconnection presented clear synergies.
Avondale ensured a price that met the owners’ financial expectations, whilst allowing them an on-going percentage interest in the company. The closure of the deal included an extended managed handover, through which the vendors could transfer their knowledge to Phoenix Dynamics’ management team. The merged enterprise now operates as a single source provider for a wide range of services, leaving Lake Interconnection in an excellent position from which to grow.
“Thanks to Avondale the future of Lake Interconnection is in excellent hands. The acquisition is an extremely positive move for both businesses and will offer immediate benefits to customers by way of the now vastly extended design engineering resources and manufacturing capacity.”
