Established for over 35 years, Angus Lift Trucks are one of the UK’s largest independent dealers of forklift trucks and other materials handling equipment. The company was purchased from its founder in 2012 by Robert and Karina Duncan, who saw opportunity to expand both the product and service offerings.
In the years to follow, they increased sales by over fivefold, with the growth built on firm foundations including the highest of safety standards, top quality customer service and a positive approach to employee training and development. This made the company an attractive acquisition opportunity when Robert and Karina started considering a sale to facilitate their retirement.
Avondale was appointed as lead advisor on the business sale via the company accountants, Gopsall Services Ltd. Angus Lift Trucks received strong interest from both trade buyers and investors. A number of competitive bids were received, but the successful trade buyer, Aprolis UK, stood out as offering the best fit for the long-term future of the business, as well as favourable terms for our clients.
Aprolis UK are part of the French group Monnoyeur, whom specialise in the sale and rental of material handling equipment. The group’s significant acquisition experience gave us comfort in the transaction, and the deal completed on target. The handover has been smooth and all parties are delighted with the outcome.
