Established in 1973, Bardeck Lift Engineering Ltd was a London-based engineering company specialising in the manufacturing of transportation equipment, including industrial trucks, tractors and trailers.
As a highly sought-after, high-end service provider, Bardeck had carved out an enviable position for itself in the marketplace and had a number of prestigious customers in the London area. The firm’s owner and managing director was looking to retire and approached Avondale to help structure a deal that would truly reflect the unique qualities of his business.
Following in-depth research of the market place, Avondale’s team set about strategically positioning Bardeck for sale, using a marketing approach that brought the firm’s key value drivers to the forefront. A number of prospective candidates were identified and carefully vetted. This led to several bids being submitted, with Bardeck’s owner selecting the offer that best met with their financial ambitions.
The two parties, supported by Avondale’s expertise in deal negotiation, agreed to a closing value on a share transfer basis, and Heads of Terms were swiftly drawn up. Bardeck’s managing director has since been able to retire in a position of financial strength, with his many years of service to Bardeck having paid dividends.
